“During any ups and downs, I always sought solace in food - it was the only source of psychological comfort for me,” says Katerina Vassiliadis. — I started my day with a large cappuccino, sweetened with four tablespoons of sugar. At a time when her steadily increasing weight became increasingly uncontrollable, Katerina Vasiliadis sought medical help. The only possible solution, according to her attending physician, was sleeve gastroplasty - an operation to reduce the size of the stomach. However, the woman considered this option unsuitable, despite the fact that obesity threatened her with multiple illnesses and even premature death.

“I couldn’t afford to spend $22,000 on surgery, I just didn’t have that kind of money. I was also afraid of dying right on the operating table,” explains Katerina Vassiliadis. “However, my problem had to be solved somehow; I couldn’t cope at all on my own.”

“I was able to realize the seriousness of the situation only when I was about to fly to Melbourne to meet my sister. Not only did I barely squeeze into the seat on the plane, but the damned seat belt was too small for me: I had to ask the flight attendant for a special extension. You should have seen how the other passengers looked at me... It was so humiliating.”

In March 2021, when the weight reached 138.5 kg, Katerina Vassiliadis was ready to give up. Finally, recognizing that she needed help, she turned to her best friend, who was able to lose weight with the help of specialists and a weight loss program based on completely eliminating unhealthy refined foods and sugar.
