Making juice at home

To get high-quality pineapple juice at home yourself, you need to start by choosing the pineapples themselves. If you purchase unripe berries, you will not get any benefit from the drink. Therefore, when you come to the market or store, pay attention to the soft fruits of a rich brown color. Hardness and a greenish tint of the peel will indicate the immaturity of the product.

mountain of ripe beautiful pineapples

Having brought the pineapples home, they must be thoroughly washed with warm water, peeled, cut into small pieces and passed through a juicer, blender or mixer. It is better to drink the finished drink immediately, since it belongs to the category of perishable products, and can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than one day.

If you don’t want to burden yourself with such manipulations, just buy a jar of pineapples in your own juice at the store. In fact, their properties do not differ much from freshly squeezed juice.

Pineapple juice is very healthy; it is rich in vitamins and minerals. Drinking the drink can help cope with various diseases and overcome illnesses. Use the product according to the norm, and it will only have a positive effect on your body.

How to choose?

Fruit juices are drinks that are made either from fruits (called directly pressed juices) or from concentrate (the container must indicate that the juice is reconstituted). Manufacturers of such products often use concentrates because they are easier to transport and store. In any case, the method of preparing the drink must be indicated on the label.

Granulated sugar should not be added to high-quality juice. As for ascorbic acid, it is even allowed by GOST. This is due to the fact that the acid additionally saturates the product with vitamin C and also acts as a preservative.

How to choose one that is guaranteed to be sweet and ripe? To do this correctly you should remember that:

  1. A good fruit should have juicy and thick leaves,
  2. Sufficiently elastic skin.
  3. Weak but pleasant aroma.
  4. You should hear a dull sound when tapping.

That is, when you press your finger on the center of any inflorescence (hexagon) on the peel, the hole should straighten. But at the same time a certain softness should be felt. If the hole does not disappear after pressing, then the pineapple is either overripe or has already begun to rot from the inside.

Fresh pineapple benefits

Hard pineapple is also not good. Since you should take into account the fact that, unlike a banana, a pineapple ripens completely only on the plant. If it is picked prematurely, it will taste sour and be poor in nutrients.

Fresh pineapple benefits

One of the main benefits of pineapples is their high content of vitamin C and manganese.

Vitamin C is important for ensuring the full growth and development of children’s bodies, maintaining the functioning of the immune system, and improving the absorption of iron from the intestinal lumen.

Manganese, according to American scientists, has a pronounced antioxidant potential and regulates metabolism in all tissues.

Pineapple contains a lot of valuable nutrients, especially vitamin C and manganese. These components are necessary for the body to function properly.

Pineapples are rich in antioxidants - special substances that help fight the effects of free radicals, which can not only inhibit the growth of all body cells, but also destroy them.

Iranian studies have found that the active action of free radicals is associated with chronic inflammation, suppression of the immune system, as well as many common diseases of the endocrine and cardiovascular systems, and malignant neoplasms.

Natural flavonoids and phenolic acids in pineapples are especially valued, since they have the most pronounced antioxidant effect.

It is important to note that most antioxidants are in a bound state, which allows them to “survive” harsh conditions (low or high temperatures) and retain their beneficial properties for a long time.

Fresh pineapple benefits

Pineapple is a valuable source of antioxidants that help prevent the development of most common diseases.

Pineapples contain a special group of digestive enzymes - bromelain.

Bromelain has anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects, accelerates regeneration processes in any tissue, and also regulates the permeability of the vascular wall. The effects are associated with the ability to change the metabolism of arachidonic acid in the human body.

Bromelain in the lumen of the digestive tube functions as a protease - it breaks down complex protein molecules into simple building proteins - peptides and amino acids. In this form, they are much better absorbed and absorbed by the body. This circumstance is especially important for people suffering from diseases of the pancreas with decreased exocrine function.

One foreign study found that bromelain significantly improves the general condition of patients suffering from various pancreatic pathologies.

Pineapples are rich in bromelain, a digestive enzyme that breaks down proteins. This property of the fruit helps ease digestion in diseases of the pancreas.

Numerous studies show that eating pineapple not only helps reduce the risk of developing cancer, but also leads to the reverse development of tumor processes.

For example, Italian scientists have found that bromelain has an antiproliferative and apoptotic effect on malignant cells located in the wall of the large intestine.

Experts from the USA have found that pineapple suppresses the growth of breast tumor cells, causes their death, and accelerates recovery by stimulating the proliferation of connective tissue in the lesion.

There is also data regarding the effectiveness for the prevention and treatment of cancer of the skin, gall bladder, stomach, and pancreas.

Pineapple contains a number of special compounds that can not only prevent the appearance, but also inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Tropical fruits contain a lot of vitamins, mineral components and enzymes that have a regulating effect on the immune system.

Systematic addition of the product to the diet strengthens the immune system and increases the body's resistance to various external pathogens (viruses, fungi, bacteria, etc.).

According to studies conducted in the Philippines, children who regularly consume pineapples have a lower incidence of viral and bacterial infectious and inflammatory diseases.

The works of German scientists show that pineapple not only prevents the occurrence of infectious processes in the body, but also significantly accelerates recovery from existing ones.

Regular consumption of pineapple is associated with a low risk of manifestation of infectious and inflammatory pathologies.

Arthritis affects about 10-15% of the world's population. There are many variants of this deviation, most of them are based on inflammatory damage to the articular apparatus.

Foreign studies demonstrate that bromelain, which is part of exotic fruits, has pronounced anti-inflammatory properties and helps relieve pain in arthritis.

At the same time, the strength of the effect is comparable to some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (for example, diclofenac) and even exceeds them.

Consumption of fresh pineapple or preparations based on its extract helps to temporarily relieve pain in patients with inflammatory joint damage.

The positive effect in this case is also associated with bromelain. Research shows that this substance can reduce inflammation, eliminate swelling and bruising, and reduce pain after surgery.

Pineapple accelerates the recovery of muscle tissue after active physical activity, not only improving metabolism, but also reducing the severity of the inflammatory reaction in surrounding tissues.

American experts have found that the inclusion of dietary supplements with bromelain in the diet of athletes leads to a significant reduction in pain and fatigue, and allows one to achieve more pronounced athletic results.

Bromelain, contained in pineapples, can reduce pain, inflammation and swelling of tissues after surgery or strenuous exercise.

It has been proven that regular consumption of pineapple prevents the early development of osteoporosis (decreased bone density), which can lead to fractures.

This circumstance is especially important for older people and women during menopause. The action is presumably due to the high manganese content.

This microelement normalizes metabolism in bone tissue, strengthens bones and accelerates the processes of their mineralization.

Regular addition of pineapples to your diet increases bone mineral density and prevents fractures.

In order to lose weight, scientists recommend including pineapple in your diet.

The fruit is rich in fiber, which is necessary to maintain digestive processes and suppress chronic inflammation. It is the latter that is associated with excess fat deposition.

Antioxidants also play an important role. They slow down the processes of adipogenesis - fat accumulation.

And bromelain promotes more efficient breakdown of adipose tissue cells to produce energy.

Thus, pineapple has a complex effect on the metabolism of adipose tissue in the body, leading to a decrease in body weight.

Pineapple for weight loss

All women know that pineapple contains the amazing substance bromelain, which is indispensable for weight loss. Bromelain helps us burn fats obtained from food faster. But how should you eat pineapple in order to become slimmer with its help?

Nutritionists recommend eating several slices of the fruit on an empty stomach. The valuable substance bromelain is well absorbed only when the stomach is empty, and when mixed with other foods it easily loses its properties. By the way, Sophia Loren herself said that she owes her slimness to her love for this fruit!

Another tip: drink a glass of fresh pineapple after a feast and an abundance of fatty foods. In this case, the benefits of pineapple will manifest itself in the fact that the food is better digested and will not be deposited on the sides.

Pineapple juice is useful for weight loss, since the drink contains both vitamins with enzymes and microelements necessary for the body.

The benefits of pineapple juice for losing weight are due to the fact that it:

  • low calorie;
  • breaks down proteins;
  • burns fat;
  • stimulates the digestive process;
  • well absorbed by the body.

You can do a fasting day twice a week using pineapple juice (a liter is required) and the fruit itself (a couple of kilograms). This amount of food should be divided into 5 servings. In this case, the consumption of other foods and liquids, with the exception of clean water, is not allowed. However, it is not advisable to drink fruit with it.

Thanks to this fasting diet, you can lose up to two kilograms.

Lose weight with juice

As mentioned above, pineapple fruit contains bromelain. People call this component nothing more than “an enzyme for slimness.” The substance accelerates the production of gastric juice and activates the metabolic process. Many weight loss products contain bromelain. But, as you know, the prices for such drugs are very high; it is much cheaper to simply drink pineapple juice for weight loss.

Nutritionists even developed a corresponding pineapple diet. It is based on drinking juice every time before meals. The main feature of this diet is the need to include large amounts of liquid in food. Some ignorant people claim that the drink made from the berry is extremely nutritious. But this is nothing more than a delusion. Pineapple juice has little calorie content. About 56 kcal.

Use in cooking

In cooking, pineapple juice is used to make smoothies, fresh juices, cocktails, jelly and jellies.

The drink goes well with fruits such as passion fruit, papaya, kiwi, banana, pear and apple. You can also mix pineapple juice with vegetables. The result is a wonderful and healthy fresh fruit and vegetable dish. Often, a pineapple drink is supplemented with carrot juice.

Who should not eat this fruit?

However, pineapple is not only completely beneficial; there are people for whom even the ripest and sweetest fruit can cause harm.

  • Firstly, this fruit is not recommended for those who suffer from stomach ulcers, gastritis, and high acidity. After all, the juice of the fruit can greatly irritate the gastric mucosa.
  • Secondly, due to the abundance of acids, fruits should not be carried away by people with obvious problematic tooth enamel. But if you really really want to enjoy a slice, do it, but immediately rinse your mouth with warm water. You cannot brush your teeth - this will further damage the enamel exposed to acids.
  • Thirdly, this fruit has contraindications for allergy sufferers, since pineapple is an active allergen.
  • Fourthly, unripe pineapple can harm pregnant women, because it can provoke uterine contractions.
  • It is also better not to give this fruit to children under 6 years of age.
