Adjust the strength and type of vibration for different occasions

Switching music

With the advent of a functional tracker, users had a logical question: how to switch music using it? This function is just one of the standard ones , so every device owner wants to use it.

There are two ways to go to a tab with the ability to adjust the sound, switch songs and pause or start playback :

  1. Swipe right on the main screen.
  2. Follow the path “Advanced” - “Music”.

Locking the tracker screen with a PIN code

Mi Band 4 is the first tracker from Xiaomi that can be protected in the form of a PIN code when you remove it from your wrist. This type of blocking is enabled via the application. To do this you need :

  1. Log in to Mi Fit, go to “Profile” and click on the name of the bracelet.
  2. Select "Laboratory".
  3. Click “Bracelet Lock” to enable the function.
  4. Click on “Password” and set a four-digit PIN code.
  5. Repeat the entered password and click the “Save” button.

Immediately after this, a PIN code will be installed on the fitness bracelet, which will need to be entered to turn on the gadget if it is not on the owner’s hand. If you don’t like , you can do the following with it:

  1. Switch off. To do this, select the first item in the “Bracelet Lock” tab and click “Ok”.
  2. Change. Here you will need to click on the second item in the same tab and enter the new PIN code twice.

To avoid accidentally pressing the wrong number when entering a password, you should click on the image of the eye on the side of it - then instead of asterisks, there will be specific numbers in the input field.

Weather display

Owners of the previous version of the tracker know exactly how to adjust the weather on the bracelet, but beginners often ask this question. In fact, there is nothing complicated here, since this is done using the application. The weather update occurs (the process of setting the weather is completely identical to the Mi Band 3) automatically when the watch is synchronized with the phone.   2. Find "Weather Settings".
  3. Select "City".
  4. Remove auto-detection and enter the name of the desired city in the appropriate field.

On the watch itself, weather is the fourth item, after the “Training” tab. By opening it, the user will be able to see the temperature day and night, as well as possible precipitation for today and the next 4 days .

If the weather does not work at all or the last day is not displayed, the tracker must be synchronized with your smartphone.

Displaying contact names

The fourth generation of fitness trackers does not allow the user to answer the call, but gives the opportunity to reset it by pressing a button directly on their screen. When there is an incoming call, the display shows the caller's number or its name in the phone book on the smartphone. For most users, it is much more convenient to see the contact name, and it is possible to ensure its appearance on the gadget’s display only if the contacts in the phone are written in the international format - +380... , +7... , etc.

In order for an incoming call to be displayed on the bracelet’s screen, it must be connected to the smartphone at this moment.

Pulse measurement

The “Pulse” tab is the second one in the bracelet menu, after the “Status” button. By clicking on this item, the device will begin to measure your pulse on its own, and after a while ( about 30 seconds ) it will emit a slight vibration and display the result obtained on the screen. If the measurement is carried out for the second time or in the future, after clicking on the image of the heart, the previous result , and only then the next measurement can be taken.

It is important that when measuring your pulse, the bracelet is correctly positioned on your wrist and fits tightly to the skin.

In the settings of the official Mi Fit application, it is possible to configure periodic automatic heart rate measurement . To do this, you will need to go back to the tracker settings via “Profile”, and then:

  1. Open "Pulse measurement".
  2. Click “Measurement method” and select the appropriate option.
  3. Set the detection frequency (only for automatic measurement and automatic measurement + sleep control).
  4. If desired, activate “Activity detection” (measurements will be taken more often if the training mode is turned on) and “Heart rate notification” with the maximum allowable value set (when the heart rate reaches above the maximum limit, the device will vibrate).

The difference between the results of pulse measurements obtained using a tracker and using conventional palpation, as a rule, does not exceed 5 beats per second , which confirms the accuracy of the measurements taken by the device.

Some sports applications support connecting Mi Band 4 to measure heart rate during training. For example, one of the most popular is MapMyFitness . To synchronize it with the tracker you will need:

  1. Install and run the program.
  2. Complete registration and give all requested permissions.
  3. Click on the three bars in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. Select "Settings".
  5. Go to “Pulse, other sensors and devices.”
  6. Scroll down a little and in the “Training devices” category select “Pulse”.
  7. Turn on Bluetooth and press the green “Connect” button.
  8. Select the found Mi Smart Band 4.

Afterwards, this application will also display the results of heart rate measurements during training . But for this it is important that the devices are connected to each other via Bluetooth.

Turning on training mode

The tracker's sports capabilities are its main purpose. In the fourth generation, the manufacturer provided as many as 6 modes :

  1. Running outside.
  2. Treadmill.
  3. By bike.
  4. Walking.
  5. Exercise.
  6. Pool.

You can turn on the training mode directly on the watch . To do this you need:

  1. Turn on the gadget and make three swipes from bottom to top.
  2. Select "Training".
  3. Click on the desired option and wait for the location to be determined.
  4. Click on the arrow.

After 3 seconds the countdown will begin. While the mode is running, the tracker necessarily counts the duration of the workout, pulse, load and calories burned, and depending on the specific mode, it also determines the number of steps, strokes, distance traveled and speed.

You can pause or turn off the training mode by moving the green arrow up and down, and then long pressing the touch button . Then you need to choose from the following options:

  • square at the top – stops the training completely;
  • triangle below - resumes activity.

After the workout is turned off, the data received during the workout appears on the bracelet screen. They should be recorded separately , since they are not saved either in the tracker’s memory or on the phone.

In addition to the watch, you can also use your smartphone to turn on the training mode. The Mi Fit app offers three options :

  1. Walking.
  2. Run.
  3. Cycling.

To start the mode, you just need to go to the desired tab on the main page of the program and click “GO” . And it turns off after a short press on pause and a long press on square; if you need to resume training after a pause, you should press triangle.

View notifications

You will have to configure notifications using the application . There are several items in the bracelet settings:

  1. Incoming call.
  2. Notifications (from social networks and other applications).
  3. Warm-up reminder.
  4. Incoming SMS.
  5. Notification of purpose.

All of them are included according to a single scheme :

  1. Select the desired item.
  2. Activate the slider in the first line.
  3. Set vibration and enable other possible functions, if necessary.

The greatest difficulty users have with setting up notifications from applications . Let's look at it in more detail:

  1. Go to “Notifications” and move the slider.
  2. Optionally, activate the slider in the second line (so that notifications are sent to the tracker only when the smartphone screen is turned off).
  3. Click “Manage Applications” at the bottom.
  4. Check the boxes for the programs you need.

You can remove applications from the list by unchecking the box in the same tab. This saves your actions automatically, so you can simply exit the application after making a selection.

You can read messages on the tracker screen . If the smartphone is synchronized with the Mi Band, as soon as notifications arrive on the phone, the text is immediately displayed on the watch display and is also stored in the “Notifications” tab - it is located fifth in the gadget menu.

Notifications are sent to the fitness bracelet only when it is connected to the smartphone and is located next to it. Without a signal, there will be no notifications on the tracker screen.

Using additional options (in the menu of the bracelet itself)

The last one in the menu of the tracker itself is the “Advanced” tab . We have already considered some of the points in it, now we will analyze the remaining ones:

  1. "Do not disturb". When you enable this mode, notifications are disabled.
  2. "Alarm". It holds two times, which are activated through the bracelet and set from the phone.
  3. "Stopwatch". Conventional incremental time function with the ability to mark laps.
  4. "Timer". The same simple function for counting descending circles.
  5. "Find device." The function helps to detect a smartphone. By activating it, if the signal between the devices is not lost, the phone will emit a characteristic signal.
  6. "Soundless". The function is designed to enable Do Not Disturb mode on your smartphone.
  7. "Display". Here you can choose one of three dial options.
