If you are watching every calorie you eat, then be sure to take note of this recipe for making stewed cabbage without oil. Tasty, simple and very healthy.

Stewed sauerkraut in a multicooker “German style”

Sauerkraut is often used in German cuisine. A German neighbor shared this recipe with my then young grandmother. Times were not very abundant back then, so the recipe, which uses a minimum of ingredients, was a success.

  • sauerkraut – 500 g;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • butter or ghee – 50 g;
  • cumin - on the tip of a knife;
  • black pepper - to taste.

Place oil in the multicooker bowl and turn on the “fry” mode. When the butter melts, add the finely diced onion. You can also cut the onion into half rings if someone likes that better. Fry until the onion becomes translucent.

Meanwhile, transfer the cabbage to a colander, rinse and squeeze very well. Transfer the cabbage to the bowl with the onions and cook in the same mode for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then pour about 50 ml of boiling water and switch the device to the “quenching” mode. In this mode, the liquid practically does not evaporate, so you can safely go about your business by setting the simmering time to 90 minutes. If a different mode is used, you need to periodically look into the bowl to check the presence of liquid. If everything has boiled away, you need to add a little more water.

After finishing the regime, add pepper and cumin to the cabbage. As a rule, no salt is required for this dish. Switch the appliance to fat mode and cook with the lid open, stirring until excess liquid evaporates. The cabbage is ready. This is an excellent side dish for pork, sausages and other dishes.

Stewed chicken with cabbage: calories and other benefits

Stewed cabbage with chicken is an excellent option for lunch or dinner for pp nutrition.
Protein from chicken (more about other protein-containing products here) and fiber are 2 magical components that give you strength, energy, and at the same time do not add extra pounds! How many calories are in stewed cabbage with chicken? Quite a bit - on average about 110-120 kcal per 100 grams. The low calorie content of this appetizing dish is attractive to those who count calories - want to lose weight or want to maintain normal weight.

The cooking method can be very different - stewing in a cauldron, in a frying pan, in the oven, in a slow cooker, in a saucepan on the stove - each of these options is fully consistent with the principles of a healthy diet. You don’t even need to use vegetable oil for cooking - this will reduce the calorie content even more. Although a little quality oil, such as olive oil, will only increase the benefits of the dish.

By the way, do you know how to quickly chop cabbage?

Oh, I remember how I suffered with this shredder.

I didn’t even want to cook anything cabbage-y.

I like 2 ways - grate (use one with large cells) or chop in a blender, but not with a shredder, but simply using a standard knife.

Stewed cabbage with meat

A hearty and simple dish prepared with meat. It is better to use pork, but you can use other types of meat, including chicken or turkey.

  • cabbage – 1 kg;
  • meat – 500 g;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • carrots – 1 pc.;
  • bell pepper (preferably red) – 1 pc.;
  • vegetable oil – 50 ml;
  • tomato paste – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • salt and spices - to taste;
  • bay leaf – 2 pcs.

Peel the vegetables. Chop the onion into halves or quarters of rings (cut thinly). Grate the carrots, cut the bell pepper into thin strips. Chop the cabbage and cut the meat into small pieces.

Pour oil into the bowl and turn on the “fry” mode. Let the oil warm up and place the onion in it. After another 5 minutes, add carrots, and after another 5 minutes, add pepper.

Recommendations and tips

To make a white cabbage dish not only very tasty, but also as healthy as possible, when preparing it you should adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Do not use salt when cooking, it retains moisture in the body and slows down the process of weight loss. You can replace the additive with soy sauce.
  2. Do not add large amounts of vegetable oil, fatty meats, sausages and sausages to the dish. It is better to replace these products with chicken fillet or lean beef.
  3. To give the dish an original taste, add mushrooms or a sauce made from a mixture of vinegar and sugar, taken 1 teaspoon each, which is poured into the dish 2-5 minutes before the end of stewing.

Important! You can give stewed cabbage an unusual taste and make it more filling if you add raisins, legumes or chopped prunes to the dish during stewing. But such additives will make cabbage more nutritious.

Stewed cabbage with potatoes and vegetables

Cabbage stewed with potatoes and vegetables is an excellent side dish or a complete vegetarian dish.

  • cabbage – 500 g;
  • potatoes – 4 pcs.;
  • carrots – 1 pc.;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • bell pepper – 1 pc.;
  • tomato – 1-2 pcs. depending on size;
  • garlic – 1-2 cloves (optional);
  • vegetable oil – 3 tbsp. l.;
  • spices and fresh herbs to taste;
  • hot water – 0.5 cups.

Peel all vegetables. Chop the cabbage, bell pepper and onion, grate the carrots, cut the potatoes into small cubes.

Pour oil into the bowl and turn on the “fry” mode. First add carrots, onions and peppers and fry for 7-10 minutes. Then add cabbage and potatoes, stir and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.

Remove the skin from the tomato and cut into small cubes. Send him to the vegetables. Pour in water, salt and add spices to taste. Switch the device to the “quenching” mode for 30 minutes. Before the end of cooking, add crushed garlic and chopped herbs. After the end of the mode, leave it on the “warm” mode for 15 minutes so that the dish infuses and acquires aroma.

Advice from experienced pp specialists

  • Shredded cabbage needs to be mashed a little before cooking - this way it will cook faster and be more tender.
  • You need to add very little water - vegetables give a lot of juice.
  • It is better to add salt and spices at the end of cooking - the ingredients are greatly reduced in volume - it is easy to over-salt.
  • At the end of cooking, it is better to remove the lid - excess moisture should evaporate. The cabbage will taste better.

Note to the hostess

  • You don't have to follow these recipes strictly. You can always change the amount of ingredients, take another instead of one vegetable, put ghee or butter instead of vegetable oil.
  • If you like sauerkraut, you can use sour cabbage instead of fresh cabbage. But before putting it in the multicooker bowl, be sure to rinse it in cold water to remove excess acid.
  • In some multicookers, the “Baking” mode is designed not for forty-five minutes, but for twenty. In this case, set this program twice and only then switch to “Extinguishing”.
