Swiss nutritionist Anna Johansson presented the world with a wonderful weight loss technique with a romantic name - the 6 petals diet. Among the many ways to lose weight, the 6 petals diet confidently holds the champion's place. Why is it that every year more and more women’s hearts are imbued with its simple, well-functioning system? For starters, the 6 Petals Method will not make you starve.

Say “no” to exhausting fasting days on the water, to a daily menu that is limited only to light “raw” soups, to the stress that will overtake you as a result of deliberate self-mockery.
Many people give up trying to lose weight through a diet halfway through, simply because they are unable to withstand the dietary restrictions. Diets that strictly limit the list of allowed foods are in some sense incompetent when compared with Johansson’s dietary tricks. It is enough to understand human physiology and learn how to influence metabolic processes for the diet to be effective.
The 6 petals method refers to a non-starvation food system, like the Kremlin, Lyubimaya, Dukan. The principle of Johansson’s technique will allow you to lose from 500 to 800 grams in one day. People who regularly adhere to a diet have recorded cases of successful weight loss of 10–15 kilograms.
What you need to know about the diet
Anna Johansson's program is an example of a typical separate diet. The essence of the 6 petals diet is that the person losing weight adheres to several mono-diets over the course of a week, which change every 24 hours. Let us remind you that a mono diet is the use of foods that are identical in chemical composition for a certain time, thus avoiding mixing incompatible dishes, which is especially bad for your figure. Traditionally, the “flower” diet is created from 6 mono-diets, and such a nutritional system allows you to lose excess weight more quickly. According to nutritionists, Anna Johansson's Swedish diet is effective, primarily due to the rules of separate nutrition. This principle, as already noted, prohibits combining incompatible products on a plate, namely their “tandem” leads to the build-up of subcutaneous fat. The mono diet involves taking one type of product throughout the day. And this frees you from the need to memorize a list of compatible and incompatible dishes.
The mono-diet also has another amazing property that accelerates weight loss. Eating the same thing for 24 hours also leads to weight loss. But nutritionists warn: monotonous eating should last no longer than a day; the next day the monotonous diet can be continued, but with a different diet. The secret to losing weight is that the human body is not capable of digesting and extracting beneficial substances exclusively from one food product all day long. That is, from the cottage cheese eaten for breakfast, the body has extracted all the useful elements it needs and then waits for other products. If you provide him with the same cottage cheese throughout the day, the herbal system will begin to digest it practically “in vain.” The effect necessary for weight loss is created: there is no feeling of hunger, you can eat as much as you want, but the body still does not convert calories into fat, but, on the contrary, begins to look for the energy necessary for life in the “bins” - “reserves” on the stomach, thighs... But it’s worth Reminder: this trick is only effective for the first 24 hours, then the product should be changed.
Another important principle of the 6 petals diet is the alternation of carbohydrates and proteins, which is also an important rule for effective weight loss.
If you quickly analyze the menu for each day (we’ll talk about the diet in more detail below), an interesting diagram emerges:
- 1 day – protein (fish diet);
- Day 2 – carbohydrate (vegetable);
- Day 3 – protein (chicken menu);
- Day 4 – carbohydrate (cereals);
- Day 5 – protein (cottage cheese);
- Day 6 – carbohydrate (fruits).
This tactic is known among nutritionists as the most effective, allowing you to deceive the body and force it to use its own energy reserves. At the same time, the 6 petals diet menu is balanced, since during the week the person losing weight receives all the necessary elements.
Conclusion
“6 petals” is a diet consisting of several mono-diets. Allows you to lose up to 5 kilograms in one circle and at the same time maintain an energetic rhythm of life, does not make you hungry and is quite simple to use - no complicated expensive recipes, no long calculations of calories and nutritional supplements. The main thing is to strictly follow the instructions.
Reader’s story “How I lost 18 kg in 2.5 months” I’ve been fat all my life and suffered from excess weight. In clothing stores I chose size L, which by the age of 25 turned into XL and continued to grow. I can tell you for a long time how I tried to fight my 30-35 extra pounds: diets, hunger strike, physical activity, even pills and some kind of conspiracies. The effect was short-lived or absent altogether. In short, despair, depression and almost resignation to one’s enormous weight. But one day I came across... a chocolate bar that helps you lose weight! It didn’t cost me anything to try it - I love chocolates. I ordered it and ate it. And the weight crept down!! It seems like mysticism, but it's true. I began to study the issue and realized how it all works. Girls, try it! I have already lost 18 kg in 2.5 months. And I continue. It's up to you, but you don't lose anything except weight, of course. Try Choco Burn chocolate for weight loss for 147 rubles.
The benefits of a mono-diet and psychological techniques in its work
In addition to daily weight loss, the mono-diet has other beneficial properties:
- perfectly cleanses the gastrointestinal tract;
- the diet is very nutritious;
- eating according to the “mono” principle allows you to save time in the morning, since there is no need to prepare elaborate breakfasts;
- teaches you to listen to your own body;
- a great way to pamper yourself with your favorite product throughout the day;
- There is no feeling of hunger, which makes it easy to stick to a diet.
Psychologists have long proven that quality work is one that is done with love and interest. You cannot enjoy the result of something that in the process brought only torment. And diet in this regard is no exception. A tasteless menu and a constant feeling of hunger will undoubtedly provoke a breakdown, followed by a jump in weight. That's why the Swedish diet according to Johansson's method is more like a game than traditional weight loss with calorie counting and a menu scheduled by the hour.
In addition to certain products, for a flower diet you will need paper, scissors, pencils or paints and... a mischievous mood. To begin, draw a flower with 6 petals on a leaf - it can be a chamomile or another favorite plant. Paint the petals in different colors and write the name of the mono-diet on each one. Now that the flower miracle is ready, attach it to a prominent place. And at the end of the day, tear off a petal from a daisy, noting how the weight melts before your eyes.
The diet with the elegant name 6 petals teaches you to focus not on dietary restrictions, but on the beauty of a flowering plant - its tenderness and elegance.
The Scandinavian nutritionist thus reminds: every woman is a beautiful and bright flower, and only 6 days are enough to fully reveal her own beauty.
What is the diet based on?
The system itself is a combination of 6 mono-diets. Each duration is 24 hours. It is necessary to adhere to the specified sequence, since otherwise even strict adherence to the diet will not bring any benefit.
To avoid confusion, Anna Johansson advises using a visual method - cutting out a daisy with 6 petals, painted in different colors, from cardboard. The name of each day is written on the petals and the layout is attached to a visible place, for example, on the refrigerator door.
Having finished the daily mono-diet, the corresponding petal is torn off. Thus, it is impossible to mix up the order. In addition, those who are losing weight see how much effort has already been put into losing weight, and this improves their psychological mood.
About the sequence of days
As already noted, the 6 petals weight loss diet is a combination of several monorations, which together create a carbohydrate-protein separate nutrition scheme. Based on this, many people have a question: is it possible to change the days in the diet, their sequence or products.
As nutritionists convince, the diet of each previous day of nutrition according to Johansson is selected in such a way as to prepare the body for the menu of the next day.
Therefore, it is not recommended to change the sequence of days in the flower diet. Well, unless you want to turn an effective diet into an ineffective, tasty weekly meal.
But still, why is the sequence of days in the chamomile diet exactly like this? Let's look at the 6 petals diet menu for a week.
- Fish day (also known as the starting day) provides the body with essential Omega-3 fatty acids. This healthy fat is not able to turn into subcutaneous deposits, so it should not cause concern for those losing weight. On the other hand, fish is a storehouse of easily digestible protein and a low-calorie food. It turns out to be a real protein diet for one day. Consequently, the result of the first day is an impressive body and prepared for a plant-based mono-diet.
- A vegetable day will provide healthy carbohydrates, the calorie content of the diet will decrease even more, which also guarantees weight loss. Many vegetables have so-called “minus” calorie content. This means that the body spends more joules on their processing than it receives. Vegetable fasting gives the highest results after an exclusively protein diet.
- A chicken day will replenish the body’s protein reserves - the building material for muscles. Another day without carbohydrates again leads to the use of energy from subcutaneous reserves.
- The cereal day will again delight you with the right carbohydrates. As in the case of a vegetable monoration, digesting grains requires a lot of energy from the body (subcutaneous fat reserves are again used).
- A cottage cheese day will replenish the body's reserves of minerals and high-quality, so-called ideal protein. At the same time, the diet remains low-calorie, which involves using energy from reserves.
- A fruit day is a menu based on complex carbohydrates (polysaccharides), the processing of which again requires the body to spend a lot of energy. As in previous days, fat reserves will be used, which means the weight loss process continues.
A combination of mono-diets is a link in a complete chain of a flower diet, and, as you already understand, it is not worth changing their places. This order was developed by professional nutritionists, and who, if not them, better know what, when and in what doses to eat in order to lose weight.
Reviews and results
Elizaveta Sergeevna, nutritionist:
“I do not consider the 6 Petal Diet to be a nutrition program that could be harmful to health. But you can’t stick to it more than 3 times a year. If you do not observe such frequency, you can provoke the development of gastritis or stomach ulcers, reduce your own performance, and more.”
Tatyana Vladimirovna, nutritionist:
“Any diet has its contraindications and may not be suitable for a particular person. It all depends on the individual characteristics of the body. Therefore, before starting the weight loss process, I strongly recommend consulting a specialist.”
Ekaterina Anatolyevna, therapist:
“For kidney pathologies and diseases of the cardiovascular system, any mono-diets are prohibited. Thus, protein days can provoke an exacerbation of diseases of the urinary system, and carbohydrate days will cause a jump in blood sugar. “I believe that if a diet can harm the body, it cannot be called safe.”
Venera Vasilievna, nutritionist:
“Although I am not a supporter of mono-diets, I can call the “6 Petals” weight loss program one of the most balanced. However, just proper nutrition and regular exercise will allow you to lose weight no worse than any, even the most wonderful diets. If you have decided to lose weight with the help of “6 petals,” then you should follow the rules for leaving the diet, gradually switching to your usual diet.”
What to eat to lose weight
Anna Johansson's weight loss system, like a magical seven-flowered flower, makes wishes come true. It’s enough to say to yourself: “I want to lose weight quickly” and the chamomile diet will help with this. So, the colorful flower is ready, it’s time to stock up on groceries for the week. For 6 days you will need:
- fish of any kind;
- vegetables (any, but not starchy);
- chicken breast;
- bran, cereals, raw seeds;
- low-fat milk;
- fruits (except bananas, grapes).
But it is important to remember: the allowed amount of food per day is not unlimited. On protein days, the weight of fish, cottage cheese, and chicken should not exceed half a kilogram. It is permissible to eat up to one and a half kilos of fruits and vegetables. Cereals – 200 grams of dry product.
At the same time, permitted foods can be slightly salted, but sugar should be completely abandoned. Many people are interested in the question of whether honey can be consumed on a diet of petals. There is no clear answer to the question. Although this product is not mentioned on the menu, you can afford honey in small quantities for tea, especially since it is rich in many useful microelements. It is also important not to forget that you can drink a lot of water (2 liters per day). Green tea and coffee once a day are also acceptable.
It is permissible to “improve” cottage cheese days with low-fat kefir, and vegetable ones with a small dose of oil (preferably olive oil). But you shouldn’t think about what to replace fish with, as it contains unique elements that are important for effective weight loss. Fish, like chicken, should preferably be boiled, stewed or baked without oil. You should also forget about frying during the diet. Abuse of spices will not have the best effect on the effectiveness of the diet - they provoke appetite and retain excess fluid (edema) in the body. What is really welcome is sports activities. It will be even easier to lose weight on the 6 petals diet if you engage in outdoor sports walking, running, swimming, strength training or cardio exercises.
Prohibited products:
- bread;
- sugar;
- sweets;
- oil;
- spices and flavor enhancers.

How many petals are there in a chamomile?
Anna Johansson's classic weight loss system lasts 6 days. But, given that the Scandinavian system is quite balanced, you can always create your own chamomile to get, for example, a 10-petal diet or shorten its duration - then you get, say, a 5-petal diet.
But if there is a desire to change the duration of the “Petal”, it is recommended to do 2 rounds of the program - twice for 6 days. Day 7 of the diet (intermediate) can be of two options: fasting or a day of regular nutrition.
In the first option, before entering the second round, you can “unload” on non-carbonated mineral water. Also, the “water” day can be made the final one after the “Petal”. Then you get the 7 petals diet.
In the second option, if you want to continue losing weight and new circles of “flower” nutrition are ahead, take a “rest” on the 7th day. Eat as before the diet, but limit salt, sugar, fat, and do not indulge in confectionery. In this option, you can also get by with losing weight for a week and again you will get the “Seven Petals” diet, the last day of which will serve as preparation for the transition to a regular diet.
Dietary chamomile “expansion” scheme:
- Day 7 – transitional;
- Day 8 – fish day;
- Day 9 – vegetable;
- Day 10 – chicken;
- Day 11 – cereal;
- Day 12 – curd;
- Day 13 – fruity.
Prohibited foods of the 6 petals diet
Products that should not be eaten during the diet:
- Bakery. As an exception, eating a few pieces of bread per day is allowed. Moreover, the bread must be made from whole grain flour.
- Any sweets, including chocolate and confectionery.
- Any oil.
- Canned food, smoked products, industrial semi-finished products.
- Coffee, sweet soda, packaged juices, compote.
- All products that do not make up the menu for a specific day.
Who is the Swedish diet suitable for? Advantages and disadvantages
First. The weight loss system from Anna Johansson is unique in that, based on the development of a nutritionist from Sweden, it is easy to create your own, determining its duration as you wish. This is how the “8 petals” diet can appear - effective and nutritious.
Second. “Petal” is not accompanied by a feeling of hunger, since the protein-carbohydrate alternation allows you to saturate the body without exceeding the permissible calorie limit.
Third. Chamomile is an excellent choice for those who want to quickly lose weight. For many, the determining factor when choosing a diet is the answer to the question of how much you can lose on one or another nutrition system. The Swedish program is unique in this regard: every day you lose from half a kilo to 800 grams. And the result after several laps is 10 kg or more.
Six advantages of "Six Petals"
- Protein-carbohydrate nutrition has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the intestines and gastrointestinal tract, causing the elimination of toxins from the body.
- Quick effect in a short time.
- No hunger.
- Variety of menu.
- Does not require additional preparation of complex dishes.
- Health safety.
Six disadvantages of dieting
- If you don't exercise while on a diet, you may end up with flabby muscles and sagging skin.
- Protein days may be accompanied by a feeling of weakness (caused by a lack of carbohydrates).
- According to doctors, losing weight without harming your health is no more than 150 grams per day. The Swedish system allows for faster weight loss.
- Prohibited for diseases of the cardiovascular, digestive and endocrine systems, kidney diseases, diabetes.
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
- Not allowed if you have a weakened immune system, acute respiratory infections, or after surgery.
Contraindications
- chronic liver diseases;
- stomach ulcer;
- kidney diseases;
- diabetes;
- any diseases for which a strict diet is indicated;
- heart disease;
- You cannot follow a diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The flower nutrition system is indicated for weight loss for almost all categories of people, as it does not involve fasting. However, whether the “6 petals” weight loss system is harmful specifically for your body, your attending physician will answer, based on your state of health. If you follow all the recommendations, weight loss occurs quite quickly, so before you start following this diet, be sure to consult your doctor.
All about the dietary “petal” menu
The approximate dietary menu developed in Sweden is no fundamentally different from other weight loss systems. It is important to adhere to basic general rules, reducing the amount of calories consumed and increasing the number of joules burned. How much you can lose by adhering to this system is an individual question and depends on the characteristics of the body. But it is a fact that you will be able to lose weight on such a diet quite quickly, and the results will be noticeable immediately.
Another argument in favor of “Petal” is that the diet menu does not need to be thought out in advance; you do not need to prepare unusual dishes, first looking for ingredients for them. Everything is much simpler. You only need to remember six words: fish, vegetable, chicken, cereal, cottage cheese and fruit. It is not difficult to get these products in our latitudes, but in what form to consume them is up to you. At least the nutritionist gives some tips and recommendations.
- Fish day menu. The first “petal” of the diet, as we already know, is fish. This means that the menu for the first day must be compiled from it. Varieties can be very different. Method of preparation: boiled, steamed, stewed or baked. You are also allowed to make fish soup and soup (but, of course, without potatoes and other hearty vegetables). During cooking, you can add a little salt and herbs to improve the taste. But in total it is not advisable to eat more than half a kilogram of product per day. For liquid, be sure to drink water; tea is allowed, preferably green.
- Vegetable day menu. The menu for the second day of the dietary flower consists of vegetables, raw or after heat treatment. You can steam, boil, stew, or bake vegetables. Avoid starchy varieties and canned foods. As an option, you can supplement the menu with freshly squeezed vegetable juices. On this day, the amount eaten should not exceed one and a half kilograms.
- Chicken day menu. So, the diet lasts 3 days. There are 4 petals left on our colorful flower. This means that today the diet consists of skinless chicken breast. It can be boiled, baked or steamed. The weight of the fillet (daily portion) should not exceed half a kilogram. This is quite enough to replenish the body’s protein reserves and relieve hunger. You can season the food with salt (just a little) and herbs. As an option, it is possible to prepare chicken soup, but only without vegetables (maximum - add a few sprigs of herbs).
- Cereal day menu. Day 4 of weight loss – cereal mono diet. 3 out of six petals remain on the magic flower. By this time the scales show significant plummets. And in order for the process of losing weight to continue, and for the results to please you, you need to continue. A cereal diet can consist of cereals, as in the buckwheat diet, sprouted wheat, raw seeds, nuts, bran, and whole grain bread. But according to the advice of nutritionists, it is better to opt for wild rice, oatmeal, and buckwheat. About a glass of porridge (dry) is allowed per day; in grams this is approximately 200-300. The method of preparing dishes from cereals is cooking. A small amount of salt and herbs are allowed as spices. You can supplement the menu with kvass.
- Curd day menu. Day 5 of the diet, developed by Anna Johansson, involves the use of cottage cheese. But the portions of the product, as well as its fat content, are limited: no more than half a kilogram and with a fat percentage not exceeding 9. But it will be best if you eat completely low-fat cheese. After all, the menu for this day is a protein, not a fat, mono-diet. 0% milk and fermented milk drinks will help dilute the curd diet.
- Fruit day menu. The diet is coming to an end. The magic flower has already dropped five petals, which means the 6th day of weight loss has arrived. It is also the last one, unless, of course, your flower has seven petals or even more. But whatever the decision - to continue or stop losing weight, the menu for the sixth day is unchanged - fruits. On this day you can treat yourself to apples, grapefruits, cherries and other sweet and sour gifts from the garden. But it’s better to stay away from bananas and grapes. If you really miss sweets, then it is advisable to consume higher-calorie fruits before 12 hours. You can eat no more than one and a half kilograms of raw or baked fruits throughout the whole day. Gourmets can finally treat themselves to fruit salads seasoned with vanilla (not sugar), cinnamon, cardamom, lemon juice and citrus zest.

Where would we be without pictures? So, we are clearly convinced that someone managed to lose a decent amount of weight on this particular diet.
Detailed menu
Above, we studied the main rules of the diet: in what quantity and form you can consume the allowed monoproduct. But eating only baked fish or boiled chicken breast all day, you see, is a bit boring. By the evening, on such a monoration, appetite can disappear, and a once-favorite product can become hated in just 24 hours. But it’s not for nothing that the chamomile diet is compared to an exciting game. This also applies to nutrition. Don't believe me? If your weight loss program is the 7 petals diet, the last day’s menu is a water fast or a smooth transition to a regular diet.
Mechanism of action
As already mentioned, the essence of the diet is to alternate between protein and carbohydrate days. Skeletal muscles receive sufficient amounts of protein and therefore continue to function normally. Protein prevents the breakdown of muscle tissue, which improves your ability to exercise. Physical activity, in turn, increases energy costs.
A person observes carbohydrate days, but the glucose received is still not enough. The calorie content of the diet is low, which contributes to a deterioration in well-being and decreased performance. To compensate for energy costs, the body begins to consume internal reserves.
First, glucose, useful substances from the blood that come with food, is consumed. Next, the breakdown of liver glycogen begins, which was planned to create new fat cells. At a critical time, when the last reserves are depleted, the body has nothing left to do but destroy fat deposits around the organs and inside the subcutaneous tissue.
Carbohydrate days of the diet contain a diet rich in plant products. Dietary fiber from such food is not completely digested in the small intestine, so passing through it, they cleanse the tract of toxins and harmful substances.
Carbohydrates are simple and complex. The latter are digested slowly, so once they enter the stomach, the fiber begins to absorb liquid. The fibers swell, occupying all available space. Thanks to this, a person feels full for a long time. It turns out that the amount of food consumed is significantly reduced.

The second day of the diet is carbohydrate (vegetable)
On the second day, you are allowed to eat up to 1.5 kg of various vegetables (even some potatoes), in various forms, except fried. A mono-diet of vegetables is very low in calories and rich in plant carbohydrates; to digest these carbohydrates, the body needs more energy than it receives from food. Rules for exiting the “6 petals” diet
In fact, there are not many weight loss programs whose duration can be determined independently. The “flower” diet in the classic version lasts exactly 6 days - that’s exactly how many petals there are in Anna Johansson’s chamomile. But even this is not a canonical rule.
The author of the system allows you to decide for yourself how long you can sit on a “flower” diet.
For many, this is a favorite diet - you can have as many petals as your heart desires. The only condition: before starting the second or third round of weight loss, it is important to remember the contraindications for “Six Petals” and consult a doctor about whether it is possible to continue losing weight. It doesn’t matter how much others diet, it’s important that it brings you beauty without harming you.
But even “floral” nutrition cannot last forever - sooner or later the petals on the chamomile will run out... The diet is coming to an end: three petals, two, one... There is no more magic chamomile, no set menu. This day is scary for many after a diet, because now you have to decide for yourself what to eat.
And nutritionists repeat the same thing in unison: only the correct exit from the diet will allow you to consolidate the results obtained.
But how to get out of weight loss correctly and how to eat less?
- Rule No. 1. In order to maintain the results of the diet for a long time, it is advisable to eat the same foods for a few more days after it. It is also important to increase the calorie content of the daily diet gradually, bringing it to 1600-1800 kilocalories.
- Rule No. 2. After mononutrition, it is important to carefully select products for the fasting diet, since during the “Six Petals” the body became accustomed to high-quality, gentle food.
- Rule No. 3. In order not to cause harm to the body, diets (any) can be repeated again no earlier than after a month. This rule also applies to the “flower” system. After a gradual increase in the daily calorie intake, you need to give the body a few weeks of respite. Then, if desired, the mono-diet can be repeated.
- Rule No. 4. If for a week or more those losing weight have adhered to the principles of separate nutrition (and “Six Petals” is based precisely on them), then the first days after the diet you must follow the same rules, gradually introducing new foods into the daily diet. By the way, doctors’ reviews of any mono-diets most often relate to this particular point.
- Rule No. 5. After finishing the diet, in order to maintain the achieved results, it is also important not to forget about the benefits of sports and the effectiveness of anti-cellulite massage. This set of procedures will help restore muscle tone, tighten the skin, and avoid sagging after losing weight.
Which diet is better: Six Petal or Favorite?
You can answer this question yourself by comparing how diets differ:
“Favorite”, compared to “Lepestkova”:
- Tougher and more difficult to tolerate.
- Lasts a day longer for a smoother exit from the regime.
- It is presented in several forms, which makes it possible to vary.
And one more thing: the daily diet of the first is based not on one, but on several similar products.
As for excess weight, the daily fat loss in both options is assumed to be the same.
