Dumpling diet. Original dumplings diet for weight loss. Homemade or store-bought

Is it possible to eat dumplings on a diet?

From the point of view of nutritionists and gastroenterologists, the combination of proteins and carbohydrates (for example, meat with dough or potatoes) is not very suitable for proper nutrition.
In most diets, not only dishes made from fatty meat and potatoes are prohibited, but also various semi-finished products, incl. dumplings. The ability to eat dumplings while losing weight is determined not only by the combination of products, but also by the composition of the dish, the type of meat in the filling, the method of preparation and calorie content.

Weight loss on dumplings: what is allowed and what is prohibited

Between main meals during the dumpling diet, you are allowed to drink a glass of kefir, eat an apple or orange, drink tea, berry juice or coffee without sugar. You can also replace the dumpling breakfast with oatmeal or buckwheat porridge. It is not advisable to eat sweets while on a diet. If you can’t resist, you should eat a handful of dried fruits or drink kefir with cinnamon, this will help reduce your cravings for sweets.

There are no significant contraindications to the dumpling diet. Basically, prohibitions are associated with the use of certain products and processing methods when preparing dishes. It is forbidden to use fatty meat and animal fats; white flour should be limited by mixing it with wholemeal flour and bran. It is advisable to reduce the amount of salt used.

Dumplings should be boiled in plenty of water or cooked in a slow cooker. Roasting is not allowed. The finished dish should be served not with sour cream and mayonnaise, but with natural yogurt, tomato or soy sauce. Portions should not be too large. You are allowed to eat no more than 12 dumplings at a time.

If you are allergic to any product, it is not recommended to use it in making dumplings. In this case, you need to find a worthy replacement. For example, instead of chicken, you can use fish, turkey, rabbit, etc.

Is it possible to eat dumplings on a diet?

Classic dumplings are not a dietary dish, because... They are molded mainly with fatty meats, and during the cooking process they are additionally fried or topped with fat (sour cream, butter).

However, there are also dietary versions of the dish that use lean meats (poultry, veal), vegetable additives (pumpkin, mushrooms), whole grain flour and bran. Such dumplings are lower in calories and contain beneficial nutrients (proteins and complex carbohydrates) that are necessary for those losing weight.

Dietary dumplings and dumplings have the following advantages:

  • provide a long-lasting feeling of satiety;
  • reduce the likelihood of diet lapses when the diet is strictly limited;
  • allow you to reduce the consumption of high-calorie snacks and sandwiches in the absence of time to prepare dietary food;
  • are a healthy and tasty dish for a planned deviation from the diet (“Zigzag-plus” on the “Three Fists” diet, cheat meal).

Despite their nutritional benefits, dumplings are not allowed in many diets. These include:

  • mono-diets;
  • plant-based and vegan diets (vegetable variations of the dish are allowed);
  • strict carbohydrate-free diets (with the Kremlin diet and the Dukan diet, you are allowed to eat only dumplings cooked with protein powder);
  • separate power system;
  • therapeutic diets (table No. 1, No. 5, etc. according to Pevzner).

To reduce the harm of your favorite dish for your figure, when eating and preparing dumplings you should remember the basic principles of losing weight.

Various Diet Options for Weight Loss

The many diets currently known can be divided into groups, each of which has its own characteristics.

  • Mono-diets. They imply the predominant use of a particular product. This could be meat, fish, grain products, eggs, cottage cheese and even chocolate. Some time ago, mono-diets were quite common, they were promoted by “stars” and popular publications. However, subsequently, doctors categorically declared the dangers of such weight loss methods, as a result of which the body experiences enormous stress and does not receive important elements for its vital functions.
  • Vegetable and fruit diets. They are based on the consumption of plant products raw or steamed, stewed or boiled. The advantages of this method are that the body is saturated with healthy fiber and vitamins. However, the diet should not be too long to prevent protein starvation. The optimal time for it is 5-7 days.
  • Protein. This group includes the famous “Kremlin” diet, the Atkins diet, Dukan diet and other systems that involve eating high-protein foods while simultaneously reducing carbohydrates. Currently, doctors authoritatively declare that prolonged adherence to these methods is harmful, since the body will experience a deficiency of vitamins and fiber. A protein diet should not last more than 10-12 days.
  • Cereal. By eating for some time only cereal products (for example, buckwheat has proven itself well) cooked in water, you can lose weight quite well. An important condition of this diet is the exclusion of salt and sugar and drinking plenty of water. Every day you need to eat a certain type of porridge: buckwheat on the 1st day, rice on the 2nd, etc. It is not recommended to follow this principle for more than 7 days - the body needs proteins and microelements contained in other products.

Composition and calorie content

The dumpling filling may contain fatty and lean pork, beef, lamb, chicken (from legs, fillets), turkey and other types of meat. The dough has a more versatile composition than minced meat and consists of flour, butter, eggs and salt. The variation in the recipe determines the fat content and calorie content of the dumplings.

Calorie content of different types of dumplings:

Number of kcal per 100 g

Minced pork and beef

Mushrooms or other vegetables

The calorie content of semi-finished products may vary depending on the composition: to reduce the cost of the product, many manufacturers add soy meat, onions, lard and other inexpensive ingredients to the filling.

When replacing traditional types of meat with lean poultry fillet and including vegetables (mushrooms, pumpkin, etc.) in the filling, the calorie content of dumplings is reduced to 150–190 kcal per 100 g.

Basic principles of use when losing weight

In order not to reduce the effectiveness of the diet, you must follow the basic principles of eating dumplings while losing weight:

  1. Standardize serving size. The recommended weight of a serving of dumplings is 100–150 g, depending on the fat content and type of filling (the maximum weight is allowed for dumplings with vegetables, chicken and turkey fillet, the minimum weight is allowed for a dish with red meat). The average weight of home-made and purchased semi-finished products is 10–15 g/piece. To fill your stomach and ensure satiety with a minimum amount of dumplings, you can cook them in vegetable soup: low-calorie vegetables and lean broth will pleasantly highlight the taste of the dish.
  2. Do not use additional heat treatment and avoid adding fat. Frying or adding butter to a dish increases its nutritional value by 70–80 kcal for every 100 g. During a diet, fatty sauces for dumplings can be replaced with natural unsweetened yogurt with spices and herbs.
  3. There are dumplings for lunch. During breakfast, nutritionists recommend eating carbohydrate foods, which activate metabolism and provide the body with energy reserves. In the evening, a person’s activity and metabolic rate decrease, so dumplings that require long-term digestion remain in the gastrointestinal tract or go into fat deposits. If you eat a portion of the dish during the day, the resulting calories will have time to be spent before a light dinner.
  4. Replace some components with useful analogues. To make dumplings healthier, you can replace not only the fatty meats in the filling, but also the dough ingredients. Instead of premium wheat flour, you can take whole grain flour, wheat and oat bran, protein powder, etc. They serve as an additional source of proteins, fiber and vitamins.
  5. Monitor the total calorie content and composition of the diet. To effectively lose weight, you must adhere to a reduced calorie intake (1200–1400 kcal, depending on weight and physical activity). The required caloric intake of the diet is calculated without taking into account excess weight. To ensure that the diet does not provoke a decrease in performance, loss of muscle mass or hormonal imbalances, it is also necessary to monitor the balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Their ratio for those losing weight is 1.5:1:2.5 (to calculate the daily BZHU these indicators should be multiplied by the desired weight).
  6. Expend more calories than consumed in food. The main condition for a plumb line is a negative balance of calories eaten and burned. The optimal rate of weight loss with minimal activity of the person losing weight (sedentary work and sports activities no more than 2 times a week) is ensured by a daily caloric intake of 1200–1300 kcal. With higher physical activity, you need to increase the calorie intake, maintaining the difference between consumed and expended calories at 300–500 kcal/day.

What to expect effect and results

In 5 days of following the dumplings diet, you can lose about 3 kg of weight. With high physical activity, this parameter may be even greater. The amount of salt consumed also matters. If you hardly use it, the swelling will begin to go away, and then the plumb line may increase.

Important! Older people lose weight more slowly than younger people.

As a result of the diet, not only weight will decrease, but volumes will also go away. Depending on various circumstances, losses can amount to up to 3 centimeters in waist circumference, 3-4 cm in chest circumference and 2-3 cm in hip circumference.

Dumpling diet

In the dumpling diet, this dish is used as one of the main ones. It is recommended to eat dumplings 2-4 times a day in small portions, supplementing them with vegetables and low-fat sauce.

A sample menu for the day may include the following dishes:

  • breakfast: 100 g of dietary dumplings with chicken fillet, orange, a cup of green tea.
  • snack: 2 apples or fruit salad of apple, kiwi and half an orange.
  • lunch: 150 g dumplings with lean veal or turkey, 200 g vegetable stew.
  • afternoon snack: 100 g ravioli with cherries, 200 ml rose hip decoction.
  • dinner: 100 g dumplings with chicken fillet, 200 g salad of tomatoes, bell peppers and herbs.

The moderate calorie content of the main dish and a large amount of vegetables and fruits allow you to get some weight, however, frequent consumption of meat and dough dishes is undesirable for the gastrointestinal tract.

How to achieve good results without harm to health: practical advice

  • During the diet, you must drink at least 2 liters of pure still water daily.
  • It is advisable to increase physical activity. You can join a fitness club or swimming pool.
  • Space your meals evenly throughout the day. Dinner must be no later than 19:00.
  • Don't forget to get good sleep. Lack of sleep slows down the process of losing weight and activates the feeling of hunger.
  • You should not stick to the dumpling diet for more than 5-6 days.
  • You should exit the diet carefully, adding one vegetable dish and some kind of dairy product per day.

Dietary dumpling recipes

Dietary dumpling recipes are those that use low-fat and low-carbohydrate analogues of flour and fatty meat. To reduce the calorie content of the dish, some of the minced meat can be replaced with vegetable components. The ratio of vegetables and meat in the filling can be from 2:1 to 1:1.

Dumplings allowed on the Dukan diet

Mix 1 egg with 1–1.5 tbsp. low-fat milk. Add ¼ tsp. baking powder, 20 g soy or milk isolate (protein powder) and ¼ tsp. salt. Mix and leave for 1-2 minutes until the isolate swells. The finished dough should have a creamy consistency. If necessary, add milk or 5-7 g of protein.

Form a thin sheet of dough by spreading it over the surface of a plastic bag or film and covering the top with the same piece of plastic. Place the wrapped sheet in the steamer, lifting the ends of the bag over the pan. A convenient option for cooking are bags designed for freezing food.

After heat treatment of the sheets of protein dough, prepare the filling. For minced meat, mince or finely chop 200 g of chicken or turkey fillet and 1 medium onion. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cut out squares from the dough sheets, the side length of which depends on the desired size of the dumplings. Place some prepared filling in the middle and connect the corners of the square in pairs (diagonally). Secure the connection with a toothpick.

Such semi-finished products should be cooked in a wide, shallow container (for example, in a frying pan) with the edges fixed up. To remove the smell of soy protein, you can add spices (bay leaf, garlic, curry) to the cooking water. The water level should reach half of the dumplings. When evaporating, you need to add boiling water so that the dish does not turn out to be too salty.

After boiling the dumplings for 4-5 minutes with the toothpicks facing up, turn them over and cook until done. After cooking, transfer to a plate by the toothpicks, remove them and season the dish with yogurt and fresh dill sauce.

Ravioli with cottage cheese and cherries

Take 400 g of low-fat dry cottage cheese, add to it the whites of 1-2 eggs and 3 tbsp. starch. Add salt and knead the dough. Form it into a thick sausage and cut it into equal pieces. Roll out the pieces thinly.

Sprinkle 400–500 g of cherries with a small amount of powdered sugar or stevia powder. Place the cherries on the curd dough cakes and make ravioli. Cook in boiling water for 4–6 minutes.

Instead of cherries, you can make meat filling. In this case, you should add the yolks from the eggs that were used to prepare the dough to the minced meat.

Diet dumplings with beef

Pass 200 g of beef tenderloin (without veins, fat and films) and 1 small onion through a meat grinder, add salt and season the minced meat.

Grind 6 tbsp in a coffee grinder. mixture of wheat and oat bran (1:3). Pour them into a bowl, add 1–1.5 tbsp. corn starch and 2–2.5 tbsp. water. Add a pinch of salt and knead the dough. If necessary, add another 0.5–1 tbsp. starch.

Roll out the resulting dough, cut out circles from it, lay out the filling and form dumplings. Cook them in boiling water for 5–7 minutes.

To soften the meat, you can add a little pork tenderloin (fat content - no more than 7-8%). The ratio of beef to pork should be between 3:1 and 2:1. Adding vegetables to the filling (for example, grated pumpkin in combination with dry thyme and rosemary) will make the dish more tender and dietary.

I eat, enjoy and lose weight! Dietary diet based on dumplings

For many people who have tried different types of weight loss, the dumpling diet seems something unusual. And in vain, because this dish is much more balanced than meal options in any mono-diets. And the peculiarities of preparing dumplings allow you to saturate them with especially useful substances, while reducing the amount of fats and carbohydrates.

From this we can conclude that store-bought semi-finished products are not suitable for the dumpling diet. They contain too much unnecessary stuff that will only harm your figure, and their calorie content is too high. The essence of the dumpling diet comes down to eating homemade products for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

They are prepared according to special recipes using low-calorie products. Minced meat or poultry is used as a filling, and all kinds of vegetables, mushrooms, cottage cheese, and herbs are actively added. Many tricks are used in making dough: they use coarse flour, add bran, oatmeal, and starch.

Calorie counting is also possible; as you know, to lose weight a person needs to spend more than he receives.

If the average daily cost is about 2000 Kcal, then the diet should provide 1500-1800 Kcal per day. In this case, weight loss will occur at a successful pace and without harm to health.

Reviews

Valeria, 45 years old, Moscow

I learned the recipe for the dumpling diet from one program in which the heroine was prescribed it for weight loss. Since pancakes, dumplings and dumplings are among my favorite dishes, I decided to try to lose weight in this atypical way.

I prepared semi-finished products myself, using dietary meats (chicken, lean veal), bran and starch. Over the weekend, I was able to stock up for the week without any difficulty. This allowed us to avoid daily cooking and unnecessary temptations. According to the rules of the diet, it was necessary to eat 10–13 ravioli (about 130 g) and 2–3 times more vegetables 4–5 times a day. It was allowed to add a low-fat yogurt sauce to the main dish, but you could forget about mayonnaise and ketchup.

Sweets and baked goods were completely excluded, but they were replaced without loss by dumplings with cherries.

Comments from experienced users

Reviews about the dumpling diet are mostly positive: availability, variety of dumpling recipes and menu options, lack of hunger.

“I have always been offended by traditional diets that recommend alternating carrots with cabbage…. And here you are allowed to eat my favorite dumplings! This fact makes losing weight a pleasure. From a psychological point of view, the diet turned out to be suitable for me. As for the practical side, I managed to lose 3 kg in 5 days. I am pleased". Olga, 28 years old.

“The dumpling diet exceeded my expectations. 2.5 kg in 3 days! I didn’t get such a result, even sitting on cottage cheese and apples.” Christina, 34 years old.

“It’s great that you can have lunch with your family without having to prepare dietary meals separately. For 2 days I never felt hungry. The result so far is 1.5 kg, but I am going to follow this diet further. The dumplings are prepared and are waiting in the freezer!” Marina, 38 years old.

Why dumplings according to the classic recipe are prohibited on a diet

Dumplings are dough with meat. As a rule, the most common recipe contains pork, which nutritionists ask us to forget about. The combination of dough made from white wheat flour, rich in gluten, and fatty meat is a difficult test for the stomach and pancreas. Both of these foods typically top lists of ingredients banned on any diet. Together they make a completely diet-inappropriate dish.

Let us also remember the calorie content of ordinary dumplings: a semi-finished product prepared in the usual way (boiled dumplings) has a significant energy value: 275 kcal per 100 g (taking into account the energy value of the sauce).

If you also fry them, as we like to do, then more calories will be added. In this case, we will have a value of about 500 kcal per 100 g. And this is only if we fry the dumplings in vegetable oil. Using butter increases calorie content by 200 kcal. The conclusions are quite logical: dumplings, especially fried ones, are not worth eating on a diet.

If you are wondering whether dumplings are possible on a diet, while you have free time for culinary experiments, then you can try preparing a light, low-calorie dish - veal dumplings. As the name suggests, the dumplings are filled with meat. In this case, we will not even prepare vegetarian dumplings, but a full-fledged dish for meat eaters. But it does not contain flour, so its taste will still be unique.

For the dough we need: one egg, corn starch (2 tablespoons), the same amount of wheat bran, 5 tablespoons of oat bran. For the filling you will need 200 g of steamed veal and an onion.

First, prepare the minced meat using a meat grinder or blender. Then grind the bran in a coffee grinder, mix it with water and starch, add the egg. It turned out to be dough! It must be kneaded, formed into flat cakes and dumplings made in the usual way. On a diet, it is best to cook the dumplings a little longer (10-12 minutes) so that the meat is well cooked. These dumplings will definitely not harm your diet! Bon appetit.

Important nuances

Even dietary dumplings remain a fairly high-calorie dish; they should not be overused: you should not eat more than 10 dumplings (if they are large). As a rule, nutritionists warn against servings larger than 150 g.

Be sure to use herbs and seasonings. Avoid mayonnaise and other high-calorie sauces. You cannot eat bread with dumplings.

By the way, all these recommendations are also valid for those who are not on a diet, but would like to eat properly and intelligently. We wish you good health and a thin waist!

The preparation of dietary dumplings has several important features:

  1. The most important rule is the absence of wheat flour in healthy dumplings. It is replaced with flour from a mixture of oat and wheat bran, adding a little corn starch.
  2. You'll have to make homemade minced meat for these dumplings. You should avoid store-bought ones in order to be able to independently regulate the caloric content and fat content of the filling.
  3. The salt content should be minimized, or better yet, abandoned altogether, as well as chemical seasonings, as they retain water in the body. You can use natural flavors: black and red pepper, cumin, paprika, rosemary, basil.

Pleasant exception

Some nutritionists believe that the psychological effects of severe food restrictions during a diet can have a big impact on increasing appetite after the period of restriction ends. Thus, the entire value of the diet is reduced to zero. To prevent this from happening, healthy patients are allowed to break the diet from time to time (very rarely, once or twice a week), including their favorite foods.

If your nutritionist is okay with such exceptions, and if you really like dumplings, then you can eat a small portion once a week. It is advisable that you choose dumplings with dietary filling. You should not fry dumplings, at least during the period when you are following a weight loss program.

Dough preparation methods

In our article we will look at two ways to prepare dough for dumplings according to Dukan.

Choux pastry

For the choux pastry you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of wheat bran ground into flour in a coffee grinder;
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered milk 0% fat;
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch;
  • 8 tablespoons of oat bran;
  • yolk of one egg.

  1. Brew the first four ingredients until thick, then remove from heat.
  2. Next, stir the yolk into the custard mixture. If the dough is not elastic enough, you can add a little more starch.
  3. Then roll the diet dough for dumplings into a ball, wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for 40 minutes, after which the dough will stop sticking to your hands - you can start sculpting.

Good news for those who love and know how to cook

It is quite difficult to reduce the calorie content of dumplings, but it is possible. By replacing the type of flour and filling composition, we will get a healthier dish with less calories. In this case, we can firmly say that you can eat dumplings while on a diet!

But you need to understand that the taste of dietary dumplings will be completely different: the ingredients of the dish will be dark flour, bran, and the filling will be vegetables, mushrooms and lean chicken. Vegetables contain fiber, which will greatly improve the absorption of food and make the dish more healthy. The approximate energy value of dumplings with mushrooms is 100 kcal per 100 grams. This is not bad for a diet product!

If you are too lazy to cook yourself and look towards ready-made dumplings with cabbage or potatoes, then you may be disappointed. These dishes are not so high in calories, but their benefits are small. They are not suitable for diet. In order for the dish to be truly healthy, it is better to even cook the minced meat yourself, rather than buy it ready-made in the store.

Only handmade, fresh, home-cooked dumplings are suitable for us. In this case, you will know exactly what fat you put in, how high quality the meat and other ingredients were.

Summary

Almost any diet can contain both benefits and harm. Reducing calories and limiting food intake is necessary if a person is too obese. However, in this regard, you should take a reasonable approach, providing your body with everything it needs for full functioning. The dumpling diet fully meets this requirement.

“Dumpling diet for weight loss” sounds strange, to say the least, because how can you eat dough with meat and lose excess weight? For lovers of this dish, there is disappointing news: nutritionists believe that the tandem of meat and dough is the most difficult for digestion. In addition, pork and premium flour are included in the list of products that are harmful to the figure. Therefore, information regarding the fact that you can eat regular dumplings and lose weight is nothing more than a myth.

Is it possible to eat dumplings while on a diet?

When creating a diet, experts recommend paying attention to the calorie content of a product or dish. Dumplings can be prepared with different fillings, which directly affect the energy value. The most high-calorie, and therefore harmful for the figure, dish is prepared with pork, so 100 g accounts for 275 kcal. In addition, it is worth considering that if you buy semi-finished products, their energy value is even more important. As you know, each person eats different portions, so you need to calculate exactly how many calories you consumed, taking into account that the weight of one dumpling is approximately 15 g.

Speaking about whether it is possible to eat dumplings while losing weight, it is worth considering that you can change the composition of this dish, thereby reducing the calorie content. Let's start with the filling, in which the main ingredient should be poultry. It is also recommended to add vegetables, which will reduce fat content, and they also contain fiber, which facilitates the process of digesting the dish. You can also fill the dough with chopped stewed cabbage or mushrooms. The energy value of dumplings with mushroom filling is not too high and amounts to 100 kcal per 100 g.
