They challenge their illness and begin to lose weight thanks to a special program. One important factor helps them lose weight. This factor is competitive, as participants compete with each other. Chasing the American Dream

Meet the American show “Extreme Transformation”, where trainer Chris Powell and his wife Heidi help you lose tens of kilograms and thereby change your life.

The participants in the reality show are men and women who are not just overweight, but very fat, those whose weight is more than 150 kg, and sometimes much more.

For a year, they actively take care of themselves under the guidance of Chris, and then receive a gift - plastic surgery, which will help get rid of sagging skin after losing extra pounds.

Since 2011, 5 seasons of the show have been released, but the program has not returned to screens in 2021. The reasons are not reported, however, the reality has been criticized a lot about the health consequences of rapid weight loss.

The path to becoming slim

The weight loss program is really very intense. It is divided into four stages of 3 months each, and already in the first stage, the show's participants are asked to lose about a third of their enormous weight.

At this, the most difficult stage, Chris provides all possible assistance (in word and deed) to his charges, even settling and living in their house.

Those losing weight need to follow nutritional recommendations and exercise diligently on exercise machines that are installed right in their home.

Currently, he maintains the achieved weight, but not by sitting on the couch, but by training hard - he rides a bike a lot, swims, trains in the gym 5 days a week, walks, eats organic foods, monitors the balance of proteins-fat-carbohydrates and I even wrote a book in which I told my story.

Another contestant, Alex Ressis, became an inspiration to all viewers of the show's first season. Three years after the show, in 2014, he still continued to stay in shape, while training a lot and watching his diet.

But Chris really appreciates and respects people who admit their mistakes.

Such people fully understand that they are responsible for their actions. And this is their indicator that they are completely ready to accept help and they have the courage to ask for it. The conclusion is that these people have already become winners for themselves.

Get rid of the fat

The main thing is to start - another expert in rapid weight loss, amateur athlete Yaroslav Brin, also calls for this. He talks about himself as a graduate of a good university who made a career at Russian Railways and founded his own business.

Currently, Yaroslav Zasenko, as his last name sounds correctly, is completely immersed in fitness classes, in between which he published the now popular book “I’m exchanging fat for willpower.”

From time to time, he recruits groups of people who are losing weight and, for a lot of money, gives them extreme transformations.

In a matter of months (four to be precise), program participants lose several tens of kilograms and change greatly in appearance - they become slim and fit.

Slimness in 4 months

Losing weight with Yaroslav Brin is a daily effort to improve yourself. The trainer does not promise easy results - only through a change in diet and training. Of course, motivation won’t hurt – learn to set yourself up for results.

Program Rules

The basic rules of his technique are very simple:

  • To lose weight, you need to reduce your calorie intake.
  • To do this, the very first thing is that you must calculate how many calories you usually eat. Eat as usual for about a week and count.
  • The second step will be to reduce your usual caloric intake by 10%.
  • Weigh yourself once a week - your weight should drop by about 1 kg per week. If it is less, it means that few calories have been removed. If more means your muscles are burning, add some calories.
  • At the second stage (second month) of weight loss, some kind of fat burner is added to the program (you can do without it) - Yaroslav claims that these are not “magic pills”, but simply assistants in weight loss and they only work during certain physical activities and diets. This supplement is suitable for both men and women.
  • To increase energy expenditure, and, as a result, improve fat burning, add exercise, Brin advises, and also walk more.
  • The best workout is squats. As well as weight training. Yaroslav Brin does not favor running, believing that its benefits are overrated, but he welcomes cardio training.

Rebuilding the power supply

Here, too, everything is standard and quite simple.

  • The key to losing weight is diet. But no fasting!
  • Carbohydrates (only complex, fast carbohydrates are completely excluded) can be eaten in the morning (most of the day) and after training (if any).
  • Fats are removed almost completely. All that remains is flaxseed oil and fish oil.
  • Proteins can be eaten after 6-8 (if you really want to eat) - these are chicken, fish, shrimp, egg whites, cottage cheese.
  • Vegetables can be eaten without restrictions (except starchy ones). Fruits - only until 18.00, since they contain fructose - the same sugar.
  • Drink more water.

Project “I’m losing weight!” is dedicated to a person’s struggle with excess weight and invites the heroes to change their lives for the better, starting with themselves and taking care of their appearance.

Each episode of the project is a story of transformation of one of the participants, at the end of which viewers will find out whether the hero managed to make his dream come true or at least come close to fulfilling his desire.

In the fourth season, unique weight loss techniques await the heroes! After all, for some, in order to put on a fashionable swimsuit, it is enough to lose a couple of kilograms, while for others, surgery to reduce the volume of the stomach is vital.

Viewers will learn about the bread diet and a special diet for those with a sweet tooth, as well as what healthy fast food is, what foods age us, and how eating red fish can help you lose three kilograms a week.

A team of the best nutritionists in the country takes part in the project. They have thousands of clients and tons of lost pounds! Program trainer Yulia Kostyushkina will explain why a diet without sports is a waste of time and nerves. Chef Kirill Golikov (he fed Madonna herself with his diet cutlets!) will clearly show how to reduce the calorie content of your favorite dishes. And the stars - Anastasia Volochkova, Mitya Fomin, Nikita Presnyakov - will not only tell the secrets of their attractiveness, but will also help our heroes gain faith in themselves.

Chris Powell has hosted the show with his wife since 2011. As a child, he did weightlifting in order to somehow give his small, thin body weight and volume. He was so fascinated by the process that, delving into the topic, he developed his own methods for normalizing the condition of the human body.

His popularity was brought to him by David Smith, whom he helped to lose 182 kg in 26 months. Now Powell has published a book about losing weight, and also travels with his wife around the United States, continuing to film a reality show.

How American teenagers lose weight. They are given fairly strict conditions - to lose 20, 30 kg in 70 or 90 days (usually the summer before college). And everyone succeeds!

I, of course, do not welcome this approach to sudden weight loss, but the result is “obvious to the stomach” - everyone is noticeably slimmer! Probably, a young body can tolerate such a regimen without serious health consequences.

Of course, their programs are not revealed to the audience, but you can roughly guess: healthy eating, a lot of greens, counting proteins, most often - no more than 1000 calories per day; sports daily. In one of the recently watched episodes, the girl Maya worked out for 10 hours in the gym, and her mandatory norm was to shake out 7,000 calories.

The famous figure skater of the Russian national team is actually dying of hunger. Just six months ago, Yulia Antipova successfully competed at the World Figure Skating Championships, took first place in international tournaments, she was predicted to have a future as an Olympic champion, but today she is in the hospital with a severe form of anorexia. The principles of healthy eating are mentioned in passing, the main thing here is to show that a person himself does not notice how much he eats. Just look at a table filled to the brim with unhealthy foods eaten over the course of a week! I was impressed by this program, especially one of the episodes where a woman couldn’t figure out why she was gaining weight, and after filming she was shown that she had gained up to 700 calories just from snacking and sampling food while cooking for her family!

Russian analogues

Russian television also has its own projects dedicated to the fight against excess weight, which can be watched in Russian without translation.

For example, the reality show “Wedding Size” has been on the Domashny channel since 2015. Its host is singer Anita Tsoi, who at one time successfully lost weight.

Its participants are married couples who have been married for a long time. Naturally, since the wedding, both partners have gained significant weight. So, at the beginning of each new episode, the difference between the wedding photos and what the characters look like now is shown. They are given a goal - to return the “wedding” parameters. Fitness trainers, cosmetologists, nutritionists and other specialists actively help them do this.

It takes a lot of effort for the participants to get back into their former shape; as a result, they not only get in excellent physical shape, but also, according to them, their family relationships change significantly for the better.

The reality show “I’m Losing Weight” has been going on for several seasons. Its participants are people with excess weight who not only want to get rid of it, but also to reconsider their lives so as never to return to it again.

Each issue is dedicated to one hero who tells his story of losing weight, he lists what he did for this, and what problems and difficulties he had to face along the way.

The specialized fitness reality show has already been running for several seasons and is competitive in nature.
The most successful ones ultimately receive excellent prizes, the most important of which is a trip to Las Vegas to the large-scale fitness and bodybuilding show Mr. Olympia. Thanks to the project, motivated people of both sexes are able to make their dreams come true and take part in a specialized fitness competition. They gain valuable experience and interact extensively with fitness professionals.

Compared to other specialized shows, the participants here are not those who suffer from excess weight, but those who strive to engage in professional sports.

"Big changes"

This Russian-made show is dedicated to girls who come to the gym and want to get an ideal figure. Under the supervision of a trainer, they practice and ultimately demonstrate their changes.

A special training program and diet were developed for the project participants, which are presented below.

The training is available to everyone and looks like this:

  • running for 15 minutes, the pulse does not exceed 140 beats per minute;
  • warm up your joints for 10 minutes;
  • Do strength training for half an hour. It includes exercises for the legs and buttocks, for the abs, for the pectoral muscles and for working the back muscles.
