How to cook chicken diet meatballs step by step
Those who think that steamed minced poultry turns out bland and tasteless have simply never cooked it according to the correct recipe with the addition of aromatic herbs. Try it - and you will be surprised how tasty it is!
- We pass the chicken fillet through a meat grinder or food processor. If you already have ready-made minced meat, you naturally don’t need to do this. Mix the resulting chicken mass with egg white and milk.
- Chop the onion, herbs, garlic, and then add everything to the minced meat. Mix well.
- Salt and pepper our aromatic minced meat to taste.
- Make small balls of the same size. If you plan to eat the meatballs as a separate dish, make them larger, and if you want to add them to soup, then make them smaller.
- Place the delicious chicken balls in a steamer or container over boiling water. Steamed chicken diet meatballs will be ready fifteen to twenty minutes after the water boils.
Chicken meatballs for children
Every mother knows firsthand how difficult it is sometimes to get a child to eat something, especially when it comes to meat dishes. Meat products must certainly be present in a child’s diet, because they are rich in protein, which is so necessary for the baby’s good health and growth!
You can decorate the meatballs as in the picture above - in the form of birds. Today we propose to consider a recipe for children's chicken meatballs in the form of octopuses! Toddlers and older children will appreciate not only the appearance of the dish, but also the taste. And mothers will cheat by feeding their child not only meat, but also a side dish of spaghetti!
The following ingredients will be required:
- half a kilo of chicken fillet;
- bulb;
- egg;
- a spoonful of tomato paste or children's ketchup (seriously speaking, there is no point in buying expensive children's ketchup, because there is nothing unnecessary in good tomato paste);
- a little salt;
- spaghetti;
- spoon of sour cream.
Ingredients for meatballs
- 1 chicken breast or 2 fillets;
- some frozen or fresh herbs;
- 1 medium zucchini;
- 1 onion;
- 1 egg;
- salt to taste.
For meatballs, you can use ready-made minced meat (chicken is most suitable for dietary nutrition), but we will prepare it ourselves. All you need to do is cut the fillet into small pieces or first separate the meat from the breast, and then cut it, put it in a blender bowl, add the herbs and chop it.
If you don't have a blender, grind the minced meat through a meat grinder. Since this part of the chicken is dry, frozen greens will add juiciness. Transfer the minced meat to a deep plate. Peel the skin from the zucchini, wash it and grate it on a medium grater.
A young zucchini can be grated whole; a well-ripened vegetable is better, of course, to cut it, remove the pulp and seeds from it, and only then chop it. Zucchini can be replaced with pumpkin, carrots, cabbage, and if your diet allows, then green beans. But don’t put potatoes instead: there’s a lot of starch - there’s little benefit from it, and in combination with meat it doesn’t look much like a dietary dish. Beat the egg into the already prepared ingredients, grate the onion, add salt and mix.
Pour water into a saucepan and place on fire. When the water starts to heat up, shape the meatballs and carefully lower them into the pan.

Ingredients:
Feta - 300 g Minced chicken - 200 g Olive oil - 2 tbsp. l. Ginger - 1 tsp. Oregano - 1 tsp. Starch - 4 tbsp. l. Cabbage - 150 g Salt - to taste
Preparation:
- Prepare all the necessary products. For this recipe, it is better to take very young cabbage, still green. 2. Chop the cabbage with a sharp knife into thin long strips, as in the photo. The thinner it is, the tastier and more tender the meatballs will turn out. 3. Sprinkle the cabbage evenly with a tablespoon of potato starch. Mix with your hands and transfer to a plate. 4. In a deep bowl, combine minced chicken and feta. 5. Add the remaining starch, olive oil, finely grated ginger, oregano and salt to taste. 6. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until smooth. 7. Wet your hands in cold water and form the resulting minced meat into meatballs, choose the size at your discretion. Roll the meatballs one by one in the chopped cabbage leaves. 8. Place the boned meatballs in any suitable microwave-safe container. 9. Wrap the dish tightly with cling film (choose microwave-safe) and bake the meatballs in the microwave at full power for about 6-8 minutes. Original chicken meatballs are ready! Before serving, sprinkle them with grated ginger to give them a hint of zing. 10. Serve the finished meatballs hot or warm.
Cooking Italian meatballs
The first thing you should pay attention to is that the ingredients list chicken fillet. We will be scrolling through it, so why not use ready-made store-bought minced chicken? The fact is that no matter what is written in the composition of such a product, there will still be a place for skin and offal in it, and they will completely change the taste of the finished dish, not for the better! Therefore, it is better not to be lazy and prepare the minced meat yourself.
First of all, let's prepare the sauce:
- You need to dilute tomato paste in one and a half glasses of water.
- Tie together basil, thyme and rosemary; the Italians call this a bouquet garni.
- Place the tomatoes in their own juice and juice into an enamel saucepan, pour in the diluted tomato paste, the juice of one lime and a glass of orange juice, sugar, a little salt, bouquet garni, soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the gas, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Scroll the chicken fillet through a meat grinder, pour cream into it, add salt and spices, breadcrumbs. The last ingredient should be in such quantity that it is easy to form balls, but not dry.
- Break the egg into the minced meat, mix well. Make chicken meatballs of such a size that you can fit them completely into your mouth without breaking them. This amount of ingredients should make about 40 balls.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan and fry the meatballs on both sides until nicely browned.
- Transfer the meatballs to the sauce, bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the bouquet garni from the pan and place the meatballs in a separate bowl. Beat the sauce with a blender.
Place chicken meatballs on hot spaghetti and generously pour sauce over them!
