The idea of ​​the correct combination of foods is as old as humanity’s attempts to find the key to understanding the mechanisms that occur in the human body. Almost all doctors and physiologists of all times and peoples, who promote certain methods of healing the body and, accordingly, cleansing it, have paid and continue to pay special attention to the issues of rational nutrition. They take into account Avicenna’s saying “a man is what he eats.”

Another outstanding ancient Roman physician, Celsus, highlighted unfavorable combinations of foods that are poorly digestible by the stomach, and called for caution in relation to salty, stewed, very sweet, and fatty foods. The importance of the issue of combining foods in the daily human diet was scientifically confirmed as a result of fundamental work on the physiology of digestion by Academician Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, who established that for each type of food digestive juices of different quantity and quality are secreted. Their separation begins in the oral cavity and continues throughout the digestive tract (saliva, gastric juice, pancreatic juice, bile, digestive juices of the large and small intestines, as well as microflora). The processing and digestion of each type of food occurs in the corresponding section of the digestive tract and also takes a certain time, characteristic of this type of food.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the American doctor Howard Hay, preoccupied with the problem of separate nutrition, revealed to the world the actual concept of this dietary principle. The problem of the correct combination of foods was most fully examined and substantiated by another American physician and teacher, Doctor of Sciences Herbert Shelton. In the book “Orthotrophy-1,” published on July 10, 1928, he formulated the basic rules for combining food products.

Today's Russian naturopaths and physiologists are one way or another based on Shelton's concept, and Nadezhda Semenova is no exception.

Principles of separate nutrition

Let's try to understand what the principles of separate nutrition are.

One of the foundations of separate nutrition is the thesis about the need to maintain a balance of consumed products according to a chemical reaction and to maintain the acid-base balance necessary for the body’s functioning through the food consumed.

It is known that acids and alkalis, on the one hand, can enter the internal environment of the body through food, and on the other, they are formed in the body themselves during the metabolic process. As a result of the digestion of some foods, acids are formed, therefore they are classified as “acid-forming”, while when others are digested, alkalis are obtained; here we are dealing with “alkali-forming” foods.

The result of the transformation of acid-forming foods is urea and uric acid, which are excreted through the kidneys. If acid-forming foods prevail in a person’s diet, his body may become overacidified. This is the main cause of numerous diseases. The accumulation of lactic acid and carbon dioxide in the body causes a feeling of fatigue and leads to pain in the nerve endings. In addition, a shift in metabolism towards acidosis (acidification) of body fluids can lead to depression, a feeling of depression and weakness.

Products of plant origin that are alkali-forming in nature, on the contrary, shift the acid-base reaction of the blood, lymph and interstitial fluid to the alkaline side, helping to increase vitality and mood.

Products, depending on their acidic or alkaline properties, are divided into the following four groups:

• Highly acid-forming: meat, sausage, fish, eggs, cheese, sweets, white flour products, alcohol and coffee.

• Weakly acid-forming: cottage cheese, sour cream, nuts and wholemeal products.

• Highly alkaline-forming: vegetables, fresh fruits, potatoes and green salad.

• Weakly alkali-forming: dried fruits, raw milk and mushrooms.

This division alone speaks volumes. So, if lunch consists of a meat dish, in addition to which cottage cheese with sour cream is eaten and coffee is drunk (all acid-forming foods), then this can lead to overacidification of the body, which, as is known, is a real threat of disease.

There are several connections between dietary patterns and overacidification. First of all, this is the consumption of unnatural products, i.e. industrially processed ones. For example, white bread or sweets break down in the body into carbon dioxide. To digest them, alkali-forming minerals are needed. They are the ones who should maintain the acid-base balance. But, undergoing the metabolic process, they are neutralized and can no longer maintain an alkaline balance. Constipation also leads to peroxidation, which results in rotting and fermentation in the intestines. This is also facilitated by improper selection of food products. The result is overload of the digestive organs and delayed digestion, and consequently, the formation of acids and subsequent rotting.

Alkaline food cleanses the body, creates a normal environment, and when digested, produces a small amount of waste, while acidic food, on the contrary, is more difficult to digest and pollutes the body. Two thirds alkaline and one third acidic food - only with such a balance of nutrition will the body be protected from dangerous oversaturation with acid.

Regulation of the acid-base balance is carried out primarily through the correct, consistent combination of acid-forming and alkali-forming foods. Alkaline excess can be obtained by eating too much of highly alkaline-forming root vegetables, in particular potatoes or carrots.

Commandments of separate meals

If we move from theory to practice, then here are the main commandments of separate nutrition:

1. Never eat carbohydrate and acidic foods in the same meal.

Bread, potatoes, peas, beans, bananas, dates and other carbohydrate foods should not be eaten with lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, cranberries, tomatoes and other acidic fruits.

2. Never eat concentrated protein and concentrated carbohydrate in the same meal.

This means: do not eat nuts, meat, eggs, cheese and other protein foods along with bread, cereals, cakes, and sweet fruits. At one meal you should eat eggs, fish, milk, cheese, at another - bread, cereals, noodles (if it is not possible to refuse them).

3. Never eat two concentrated proteins in one meal.

Two proteins of different types and different compositions require different digestive juices and their different concentrations. These juices are not released into the stomach at the same time. Therefore, you should always follow the rule: one protein per meal.

4. Don't eat fats with proteins.

Cream, butter, sour cream, and vegetable oil should not be eaten with meat, eggs, cheese, nuts, or other proteins. Fat suppresses the action of the gastric glands and inhibits the secretion of gastric juices when eating meat, eggs, and nuts.

5. Don't eat sour fruits with proteins.

Oranges, lemons, tomatoes, pineapples, cherries, sour plums, and sour apples should not be eaten with meat, nuts, or eggs. The less complex the food mixtures, the simpler our dishes, the more efficient our digestion.

6. Avoid eating starches and sugars at the same meal.

Jellies, jams, fruit butter, sugar, molasses, syrups on bread or in one go with cereals, potatoes, sugar with cereals - all this causes fermentation, and then poisoning of the body. Usually, holidays with cakes, sweets, and pastries lead to vomiting and illness, especially in children and the elderly.

7. Eat only one concentrated starch per meal.

If two types of starch (potatoes or porridge with bread) are consumed at one time, then one of them is absorbed, and the other remains untouched in the stomach, like a load, does not pass through the intestines, delays the absorption of other food, causes its fermentation, increasing the acidity of the stomach juice, burping, etc.

In addition to the above principles, supporters of the idea of ​​separate nutrition adhere to the following:

• You should not drink food with water (any liquid), as this adversely affects the process of digestion of the product due to the fact that water dissolves gastric juice. The drink should be consumed before meals or two hours after the main meal.

• After leaving infancy, people should not consume milk whose composition is not designed for the “chemical laboratory” of an adult.

• You should not eat melon, which, of course, is an unusually “heavy” product.

• You should avoid eating complex confectionery products, since they contain components that are fundamentally incompatible from the point of view of the theory of separate nutrition, which can disrupt your cleaning process.

Basics

We began to eat such “wild” mixtures of foods that our stomachs were forced to work beyond normal.
From this appears:

  • Rumbling in the intestines
  • Not perfect breathing

Separate meals, in which food containing either proteins or carbohydrates are consumed at one meal , allows you to avoid:

  • Digestive problems mentioned above
  • Helps improve overall health

Why doesn't it work for some?

On a note:

  • It is advisable to replace sugar and sweets with dried (dried apricots, prunes) and fresh fruits (apples, pears, persimmons)
  • For incorrigible sweet tooths, the portions eaten at a time should be reduced many times.
  • Sweets should be eaten separately from other foods

How long does it take for food to be digested?

30-40 minutes after eating, your stomach leaves:

  • Most raw fruits and vegetables
  • Salads
  • Boiled legumes
  • Zucchini

The stomach works to digest meat from one and a half to 4 hours - depending on the degree of fat content of the product.

Semenova successfully continues her activities in the author’s school called “Health”. Her books have helped a large number of people gain mental and physical balance and health, as well as confidence in the future.

drug-free health program is based on the teachings of V.I. Vernadsky about the “Living Substance of the Earth.” The well-known “Semenova System” was recognized as a laureate of the All-Union Competition in Human Ecology.

Semenova suggests dividing all food products into three groups:

Group 1 includes protein products: meat, eggs, fish, mushrooms, legumes, eggplants, fried seeds and nuts.

Group 2 includes plant-living products: all berries, fruits and vegetables. The exception is potatoes. The group also includes dried fruits, natural juices and fats.

Group 3 includes carbohydrates: cereals, honey, flour products, various sugar-containing dishes, potatoes, fats.

Semenova recommends following the following rules during the transition to separate meals:

  • combining food products from groups 1 and 3 is dangerous to health;
  • Only products from groups 1 and 2, as well as from groups 2 and 3 are compatible;
  • melon is a separate dish that cannot be combined with other food products;
  • It is prohibited to mix two types of protein in one meal.

This is not a mistake, since Semenova is against the use of products from this group. She argues that is best to completely eliminate milk from the diet. Semenova is sure that only mother’s milk is necessary and beneficial for newborns, especially in the first days after birth.

The American radiologist S. Shannon, in his publication “Nutrition in the Atomic Age,” identified milk as the most radiation-absorbing product. Hazardous radioactive waste that is released daily from nuclear power plants, with air, grass and water, accumulates in the body of cows, and then in the human body. According to statistics, 97 cows out of 100 suffer from leukemia, which is caused by a high concentration of strontium in their body. Dairy products contain many times more radionuclides than milk. Strontium, which is localized in milk, can displace calcium. A person needs calcium for the normal functioning of the skeletal system; due to its deficiency, bone diseases, fractures, etc. occur.

Semenova does not recommend including soups made with rich meat broths on the menu. Separate from all groups is the melon.

For breakfast: grated barley porridge, stewed rutabaga, apple drink with celery juice.

For lunch: vegetable asparagus soup, boiled rutabaga puree, stewed or boiled fish, fresh lemon and apple juice.

For dinner: grated carrots with raisins, applesauce, a small slice of bread, honey and rhubarb compote.

Environment according to the Semenova system.

For breakfast: porridge made from pureed buckwheat, stewed Jerusalem artichoke, drink made from orange and celery juice.

For lunch: pureed zucchini soup, pumpkin salad with apples, turnip puree, a slice of bread with bran, lingonberry juice with bran.

For dinner: mashed corn porridge, whole grain bread, carrot salad, drink made with honey and fresh turnips.

Thursday according to the Semenova system.

For breakfast: pureed millet, zucchini caviar, fresh juice from carrots and Jerusalem artichoke, in a 1:1 ratio.

For lunch: lentil puree soup, egg yolk, apple and carrot salad, carrot puree, carrot and beet juice, in a 1:1 ratio.

For dinner: eggplant caviar, fresh fruit, turnip puree.

Friday according to the Semenova system.

For breakfast: mashed corn porridge, stewed squash, a slice of bread, a drink made from honey and rhubarb.

For lunch: puree soup made from cauliflower, a slice of bread, pumpkin puree, salad with turnips and carrots, any drink made from vegetables and fruits, homemade croutons.

For dinner: millet with pumpkin, bran bread, dried fruit mousse, cabbage and carrot juice with natural honey.

Saturday according to the Semenova system.

For breakfast: pureed buckwheat, stewed carrots, honey drink with turnip juice.

For lunch: pureed mushroom soup, zucchini puree, baked turnip and onion salad, pureed baked lean fish, juice from any citrus fruit.

For dinner: zucchini puree, boiled carrots, a piece of bread, a drink made from stachys.

Sunday according to the Semenova system.

For breakfast: mashed millet porridge, a slice of bread, beet kvass, cucumber salad.

For lunch: pureed pea soup, eggplant caviar with roots and carrots, stewed rutabaga, pureed fried fish, orange juice with lemon.

For dinner: millet with prunes, cherry puree, a slice of bread, a drink made from parsnips with honey. Semenova recommends various jelly and mousses prepared with a fruit base in the pauses between lunch and dinner

Around 21:00 you can drink tea brewed with fruits or medicinal plants.

One disadvantage of this system is that it takes a lot of time to prepare a variety of dishes . Separate meals according to Semenova are suitable for active and not lazy people.
